Pillar porcelain insulators are an important part of power station and substation substation equipment,playing the role of supporting conductors and insulation.In recent years,power stations and substations in my country's power industry have experienced a number of fracture accidents of in-service pillar porcelain insulators,which have brought harm to the normal operation of the power transmission and transformation system and the safety of people's lives and property.It is necessary to strengthen safety management in this regard.

The working environment of pillar porcelain insulators is very bad.Affected by many external factors(such as rain,snow,strong wind,ice,sun exposure,etc.),the additional stress of the insulator is large;plus the pillar porcelain insulator fired at high temperature is a brittle material with low toughness.If there are microstructural defects inside the pillar porcelain insulator and the strength is insufficient,it is very likely that stress concentration will occur at certain defective positions,especially at surface defects,causing microcracks to expand instably,and eventually lead to fracture failure.In addition,pillar porcelain insulators are affected by factors such as natural temperature difference and conductor heating during operation,and will also be subjected to the test of large temperature difference.Under the thermal stress caused by such temperature changes,the microcracks in the insulator may also expand instably,seriously affecting its service life.Therefore,it is necessary to start from the composition,organizational structure and performance to grasp the key factors affecting the intrinsic quality of post porcelain insulators.
